30x30: day 7. tremble

Today is Day 7 of the Our Lost Jungle Thirty-By-Thirty Challenge, a challenge designed to help writers and artists foster the habit of engaging in creativity regularly. Whether you are an artist, musician, writer, or other creative type, this challenge is for you.

Each day in June will feature a prompt to help inspire you. Take on the prompt, or follow your own creative path! Please feel free to share your work here, post links to your work on your own blog or website, or just follow along (and share your progress)!

day 7. tremble

Today, write, paint, bake, or sing something that trembles. What comes to mind when you hear the word “tremble”? Maybe it’s fear, or cold, or trembling from a fever, or trembling with love. Maybe it’s anticipation: think of opening a present with trembling fingers. What is the significance of trembling skin? What about trembling lips? Leaves on trees tremble. Jell-O trembles. Bells tremble. Use the word “tremble” as a launching point and see what you can shake up!

Inspirational Quote: “Green was the silence, wet was the light, the month of June trembled like a butterfly.” ~Pablo Neruda

  5. A Reconciliation Situation

When I touched the hand she extended to me,
I tried not to notice the nicotine stains
    on her fingers.
But something in the back of my mind
wondered how many years of cigarettes
did it take for the yellow to become
    permanent?

When I think of her today, the fact
that she was younger then than I am now
makes me uneasy. How cool I
    thought I was being when
    I squeezed her trembling fingers.

I am a little behind. This is yesterday's prompt posted a day late.
