day 6. bitter

Today’s challenge is to take and play with the word “bitter.” Bitter is a word that often comes with … well, negative connotations. People can be bitter, or can make you feel bitter. An experience can leave a bitter taste in your mouth. But bitter can also be beautiful. In interior and other color-based designs, there are bitter color schemes based in browns, greys, and deeper shades that have been gaining popularity since 2010 (it’s the reason we often see a grey accent wall mixed with purples, blues, and rusts in interior design and decorating).Bitter mixed with sweet is … well, bittersweet. Bitter can be delicious: many herbs, fruits, and other foods (read: bittersweet chocolate) may taste bitter by themselves, but added properly to recipes make for a culinary treat. So today, be bitter … in a good way.

Inspirational Quote: “Someday, somewhere – anywhere, unfailingly, you’ll find yourself, and that, and only that, can be the happiest or bitterest hour of your life.” ~Pablo Neruda
