30x30: day 5. crush

Today is Day 5 of the Our Lost Jungle Thirty-By-Thirty Challenge, a challenge designed to help writers and artists foster the habit of engaging in creativity regularly. Whether you are an artist, musician, writer, or other creative type, this challenge is for you.

Each day in June will feature a prompt to help inspire you. Take on the prompt, or follow your own creative path! Please feel free to share your work here, post links to your work on your own blog or website, or just follow along (and share your progress)!

day 5. crush

For today’s prompt, take your inspiration from the word “crush.” Think about your last crush … write about that experience. Or maybe there was a time you were crushed by bad news, a personal decision, or the decision of someone else. Or maybe you “crushed it” in a good way. If you’re working in textiles, you’ve got crushed velvet to work with! Or, if you’re cooking, think of all the glorious foods you can crush: crushed pepper, crushed cherries in a drink, etc. Play with the word “crush” and all it’s various forms and meanings, and then go crush it!

Inspirational Quote: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” ~II Cor. 4:8-9

  1. Here's mine:

  2. Worked on a poem for a journal theme due in a couple of months. I've started early. The image prompt is not stirring much.

Feeling guilty, I tidied loose ends: Typed the short poem from a couple of days ago and began to expand it; made sure my table of publications is up-to-date; and thought hard about how to make an erasure happen when I don't have the tools.

    I'm exhausted :-D

  3. FANTASTIC verse, Khara. Much needed at the end of this crazy school year. I will be playing catch-up tonight and tomorrow for days 3, 4 and 5. Had some ideas, but no time each day. Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. I'm working on posting things. I recently procured the soft drinks for a friend's retirement party--lots of the good old fashioned glass bottled drinks, which inspired the following:

  6. Actually it's here:
even though someone keeps trying to sell me the domain name without wordpress in the address!

  7. Still catchin' up.

  8. De, pass the catchup when you're done...
