30x30: day 4. “fit for a king”

Today is Day 4 of the Our Lost Jungle Thirty-By-Thirty Challenge, a challenge designed to help writers and artists foster the habit of engaging in creativity regularly. Whether you are an artist, musician, writer, or other creative type, this challenge is for you.

Each day in June will feature a prompt to help inspire you. Take on the prompt, or follow your own creative path! Please feel free to share your work here, post links to your work on your own blog or website, or just follow along (and share your progress)!

day 4. “fit for a king”

What is fit for a king? Is it an epic poem? Is it a battle cry? Is it a heart-stirring speech? Or perhaps a stunning portrait. Maybe it’s a lavish banquet. Maybe it’s all of the above. For today’s prompt, use the phrase “fit for a king” as your inspiration. Try to figure out what it means to be fit for a king. Maybe you disagree with that saying altogether: maybe things should be fit for the common man (or woman) than for a king (or queen). Play around with the phrase, turn it on it’s head, or see what else you can do with it. But that’s not all: Play with a different genre or medium today, and see what you can create!

Inspirational Quote: “He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home.” ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

A Note on Posting: I’ve gotten the question of where and how folks can/should post or comment for this challenge. There are several writers who are not posting at all because they hope to eventually publish some of what they create during this month. That’s totally okay! What I recommend is posting to your personal blog so folks can come and visit your site; share a link in the comments below and we’ll “hop” around to visit each other. Or, just share a summary of what you wrote/drew/created … the challenge is for you to create, but it’s not mandatory for you to share the same way! Just do what you’re comfortable with!

  1. It's hard to get better than this morning. Driven by Khara's blog in her inbox, Margo revises a poem she has been working on, at ten this morning, submits it to a journal at eleven, and has it accepted by one. Good day.

  6. I cannot find the challenge on Facebook, so I am leaving my link... http://hopefuljo.wordpress.com/2013/06/04/creativity-project-year-two-day-147/

  7. Had to use as epigraph a quote that always stuck in my mind:
"Balls!" said the Queen. "If I had them, I'd be king."
