the our lost jungle poetry form challenge: challenge #4 results

Good morning, all! Today marks two endings ... First, on a personal note, I am packing up my summer girls and sending them back home to their families. I haven't had much chance (or, more properly, any chance) to write about the experience of working with them, but let me sum it up in one word: amazing. (Actually, let me use six words: mostly amazing, but also extremely stressful!)

More importantly for all of you, though, is the fact that today marks the end of the Our Lost Jungle Poetry Form Challenge #4! (For challenge guidelines, visit here; to get caught up, check the links at the end of this post!)

This week's featured poem comes from Marilyn Braendeholm, for her lento titled "Adieu to Summer". I'm only posting the first stanza, since she posted the full poem at her own blog:

ADIEU TO SUMMER

Heat that weaves and shreds simmering light
wheat baubles strung on stalks knee-height
fleeting clouds that lumber white on
bittersweet summer days of fading light

There was so much rich and finely textured language in this poem, and the flavor of shifting seasons was absolutely lovely. Congratulations to Marilyn!

And congratulations to all who submitted poems this week--- it's only getting harder to choose a featured work! Keep up the great work, and I'll see you next week (and next month!) as the challenge continues!

On a side note, thanks for introducing me to the Lento, Khara!

  2. Congratulations, Misky. In case you're wondering, I did finally write a lento. I have to admit that the form leaves me cold. I'm far more comfortable with others, but I did it. I'll show it to you in a while.

And Khara, I'll show it to you as well, if you'd like. I'm glad that the stress level of your summer is waning. That's always a plus, but also glad that it was a great positive experience for you.

    Yay!, Misky.

  4. Thanks for introducing this form, Khara. Misk, you totally rock. TOTALLY.

I didn't catch this in time to take part, but the form intrigues me. I'll give it a whirl!
